This is Shepherds Rest Asya Melek, 8 weeks old, at her new home in Cheshire, Oregon. She will be guarding Nigerian Dwarf goats in the mountains northwest of Eugene. Female Anatolian Pup with Dutch Markings at 6 Weeks Old

This sweet girl is the fastest, the bravest, the most active, and the most curious of the pups at this age. She is a persistent pup but very loving. She started out weighing the least and now weighs the most of all the pups! She will be a devoted livestock guardian.

Dark Face Female Anatolian Pup at 6 Weeks Old

This little girl is a dreamer. Tolerant of a lot, she doesn't complain. She's not afraid to bounce down the steps for the first time . . . and across the grass, biting at flowers along the way. She doesn't hold her tail curled up as much as her brothers do yet.

Shepherds Rest Farm Welcomes Karabas Gandolf!

Karabas Gandolf belongs to Guvener Isik, and is a Turkish import with no bloodlines in the US. He was bred to Akilli (in the forefront) last weekend. Puppies will be due the end of May.
Karabas Gandolf is a large working male who will return to Turkey in a year to guard dairy goats.
He has cropped ears and rear dew claws. A magnificent boy! Posted by Picasa

The Male Anatolian Puppies at 6 Weeks Old

We nicknamed this guy "Little Red" since he looks like his daddy, "Red." Little Red is the most vocal, has the most eye contact, and is the first one out of the gate when we open it.

This rolly-polly dark male has done lots of eating and sleeping. He was the heaviest at birth and now vies with two siblings for that ongoing role. He is very calm and loveable. He has the largest head and the least amount of white on his body compared to his siblings.

Puppies' First Solid Food at 3 Weeks Old

Hey, this stuff is pretty good!
Yeah (hee hee), but watch THIS!
ALL MINE!
Great to eat . . . but fun to swim in too!

(We use Canidae All Stage Formula kibbles, soaked in plenty of boiling hot water until soft and lukewarm. Then we mash the kibbles and serve. Yum yum!) Posted by Picasa
